A decommissioned fire station is the home of Arrosto Coffee. Coffee is roasted at the back of the property and a delightful café is in the old Firehouse.

Builder and passionate foodie Callum Benda and his physiotherapist wife Lauren have transformed the disused fire station into a thriving coffee roasting business and café. Adding to the range of coffee beans sourced and roasted from around the world they now have cold drip Coffee Liqueur – Firewater, to add a new taste for coffee lovers.

Australian Native Bush Foods

Australian Native Bushfoods founder Mark Lucas, originally planted wattleseed as a windbreak for his other crops. The trees are drought- and salt-resistant and happy in the most average of soils, even providing their own nitrogen back into the earth.

Mark with his wife Jenny now grow and produce Wattleseeds, Native Food Condiments and Wattleseed Extract. Like many bush foods, the wattleseed has a symbiotic relationship with nature. The trees provide homes for animals and protection for other plants but need heat to propagate – especially fire.

Gurra Downs

The Reilly family purchased Gurra Downs in 1990, and have become  pioneers in research and development for the production of premium table dates. The area is renowned for its fresh fruit and produce world-wide.  The approach the Reilly’s have adopted, is to field trial as many date palm varieties as possible. Given that there are no commercial date plantations in the semi-arid district or in the state, they are leading the way in a complete new field. They also produce high quality organic figs, pomegranates, wines and condiments.

In 2015 Kerry had a hive in her garden and instead of simply having it removed she began beekeeping which lead to the beginning of Half Barrel Honey.

The Honey is 100% raw which is  different to much of the honey found in supermarkets as it has not been treated in any way. It is extracted from the hive, filtered to remove any beeswax and then bottled.

Raw honey contains natural vitamins and enzymes and is high in antioxidants making it very beneficial to your health.
